Zach Casley - Principal, Mine Geology and Resource Estimation

View Full CV

Zach has 14 years experience in the mining industry in Australia and overseas, 11 of which were in operational roles. Since moving into consulting practice in 2004, Zach has worked for numerous clients in a range of commodities. For the last two years his particular focus has been on consulting to coal clients in the use of geostatistics within coal operations, particularly in operational resource estimation and coal quality control. He is a member of the AusIMM and AIG. Zach is based in Brisbane, Australia .

Olivier Bertoli - Principal, Geostatistics and Resource Evaluation

View Full CV

Olivier's high level training in applied mathematics, mining engineering and geostatistics from the Paris School of Mines is broadened by 12 years practical experience as a professional geostatistician.

Olivier has expert knowledge of the geostatistical software toolbox Isatis (developed by Geovariances), and specialises in staff training in the form of hands-on co-piloting sessions. Olivier has extensive experience in the application of geostatistical techniques to coal resource modelling, primarily gained through project work on central Queensland and NSW coal deposits for Anglo Coal, BMA (South Walker Creek, Poitrel) and BHP Billiton between 2002 and 2006. Olivier also has expertise in advanced geostatistical modelling: 2D methods, non-linear methods (Uniform Conditioning, Service Variables and MIK), conditional simulations, multivariate analysis and non-stationary modelling. He is a member of the AusIMM and GAA.

Olivier shares his time between France and Australia, where he spends four to six months per year (based in Brisbane).

Aaron Tomsett - Principal, Geostatistice and Resource Evaluation

View Full CV

Aaron Tomsett has 10 years experience as a geologist and has been working as a specialist in resource estimation since 2001. Aaron has worked in both underground and open pit mines and has experience in narrow vein lode, copper-gold porphyry, epithermal, base metals and pegmatite mineralised systems. Aaron's also has specific experience in project feasibility and development, and has a strong background in structural geology. Aaron's resource estimation skills have increased significantly since completing an MSc in Mining and Environmental Geostatistics from the University of Leeds (graduating with Distinction) in June 2004. Aaron's MSc dissertation involved the development of practical geostatistical methodologies for the simulation of fracture network systems. He is a member of the AusIMM.

Clare Mawdesley - Senior Consultant, Resource Evaluation

View Full CV

Clare has fifteen years mining experience in mining geology, planning and geotechnical engineering roles. She has specific expertise in geotechnical and geological characterisation, numerical modelling, and medium to long-term mine design and scheduling. Clare has a B.Eng. (Hons) in Geological Engineering from RMIT University and a PhD from the University of Queensland. Her PhD work involved the application of a statistical approach to evaluate and improve existing empirical design methods for predicting instability and caving. She is a member of the AusIMM and AIG.  Clare is based in Tasmania.

Associate Personnel

Jacques Deraisme –Associate Geostatistical Expert

Jacques Deraisme is the Technical Manager in charge of the consulting and training at Geovariances in Fontainebleau, France. After graduating as a Mining Engineer (Ecole des Mines de Nancy, 1969) he worked from 1972 to 1986 at the Centre de Géostatistique de l'Ecole des Mines de Paris where his research activities focused on stochastic and mining simulations, and from where, in 1978, he obtained his PhD. Since 1986, Jacques has worked for Geovariances (he was a co-founder) and conducted many geostatistical studies for mining and oil companies. Jacques has led numerous training courses in applied geostatistics.

Jérôme Poisson – Associate Senior Geostatistician

Jérôme Poisson is a Geostatistican at Geovariances in Fontainebleau, France. After graduating as with a Masters degree in Geophysics (Ecole de l'Observatoire des Sciences de la Terre – Strasbourg University, France) he worked as a geostatistician/geophysicist in Montreal, Canada. Jérôme joined Geovariances in 2005 and has been involved with consulting to Geovariances clients and technical Isatis support.

Henri Sanguinetti - Associate Expert Geologist-Geostatistician

Henri is a dual French/Australian citizen with almost 40 years of experience in geology and geostatistics. He is one of the true experts in the application of complex geostatistical concepts to practical mining situations; his knowledge of Uranium deposits in particular is world-class. He has just finished an audit of a Lead-Zinc-Silver mine in Morocco within the framework of his partnership with Tenzing. Henri is due to come to Australia in the future to run an in-house training for Tenzing consultants on Uranium geology and resource estimation and meet with some of Tenzing's clients.

Adam Stewart - Associate Senior Resource Geologist

Adam has 14 years experience in the coal industry, with expertise in exploration, mining operations, geological modelling and resource estimation. Adam's qualifications include a B.App.Sc degree in geology from the University of Southern Queensland and a M.EngSc degree in mine management from the University of New South Wales. He is a member of the AusIMM.
